There was a little boy, in the distant past,
He loved to go to school, he was rather bright,
He loved to learn new things and he certainly learned them fast!
He was good at everything, but writing was his plight,
He'd sit all day and stay up all night,
He'd do his work by candle light,
He'd think and think and all the while,
His pencil he would bite,
He'd think until he couldn't smile,
His face would get so tight!
He'd ponder and reflect and try with all his might,
But he just could never seem to think of anything to write.
Now this little boy, his name was Gary,
Would sit all alone with no one in sight,
So when suddenly one night,
Along came a fairy,
You can surely imagine his fright!
She flew down next to his ear,
And whispered "Gary my dear,
I could give you an item,
That could fix your problem,
And set your mind at ease,
All you've got to say is please!"
Gary thought for a while,
Say "please" with a smile,
And at that very moment,
She did a magic so potent,
And produced a pencil from thin air,
She gave it to Gary and said "Handle with care,
This pencil can write on it's own,
Don't let it be known,
For it's considered cheating,
And you'll get a sound beating,
So if anyone find this magical tool,
You'll probably get thrown out of school"
So he brought it to school the very next day,
Wondering if it'd work, and hoping it may,
He tried it in English, and to his great surprise,
Apparently the fairy had told him no lies!
And so he went on, using this gift,
It certainly gave his report card a lift.
Until one day,
To his great dismay,
He forgot to put it away,
And so it was gone, it's location unknown,
And thus Gary had to write on his own.
